To support young athletes in their development into age group swimming, we invite 12 year-old members (born 2011) to come along and experience what the Regional Programme offers.
Swim ConnachtSkills Academy Development Camp takes place on Sunday 4 June 2023 at The Complex at Lough Lannagh, Castlebar from 13:00 to 16:30.
We begin with a short presentation for athletes and their parents, introducing the structure of the competition pathway and regional programmes. Athletes will then enjoy two sessions – a strength and conditioning workshop and a pool clinic focussing on effective stroke development.
Itinerary: 13:00-13:15 Check-in 13:15-14:00 Welcome and Presentation (parents welcome) – 45mins 14:00-14:45 Strength and Conditioning – 45mins 14:45-15:00 Transfer to poolside – 15 mins 15:00-16:30 Pool Session – 90mins
Cost: €25 (exclusive of credit/debit card payment surcharge of 2%)
Registration: Swim Ireland club members born in 2011, who are competing at the Future Challenger Series. Registration will only work through the athlete’s Swim Ireland Membership profile (and not the parents membership). Places are limited to 35.
For coaches working with athletes aged 12 & under, our upcoming Skill Clinics will focus on breaststroke drill progressions.
These 90-minute sessions will be led by the Head Coach of the host club.
Once registered for the clinic, coaches will receive an outline of the current thinking on the foundations of breaststroke technique and some of the drills that can be used to support the development of a strong technical foundation. A CPD point will be credited to Swim Ireland profiles on completion of the clinic.

The Athlone and Claremorris Invitational takes place over two weekends and two venues on Sunday 16 April in Claremorris Leisure Centre and Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April in Athlone Regional Sports Centre.

The Irish Minor Schools Championships 2023 takes place on Saturday 25 March 2023 at the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin.
Only swimmers who qualify at the Regional Minor Schools Championships may enter this competition. Swimmers may only enter the events in which they qualify in and must have swum in those events at the regional competition.

Registration is now open for the Swim Ireland Connacht Region Annual Conference 2023, which takes place online next Thursday 16 February at 7:30pm.
Attendees must register before 5pm on Wednesday 15 February 2022. You will be asked to provide your name, club, and to indicate if you are a voting delegate.
